Mattie Playmats was born from a lifelong love of drawing and imagination. Our founder, has been illustrating since childhood—filling sketchbooks with colorful worlds, playful characters, and dreamlike scenes. That creative spark led to a career as an illustrator at a surf clothing company, where vibrant designs and bold ideas came to life on fabric. Later, he brought those skills into the digital world, working at a digital advertising company and learning how visuals can tell stories in new, exciting ways.

But the dream was always to create something more personal—something that would spark joy, creativity, and wonder for kids. So Mattie Playmats began: a brand built on artistry, storytelling, and the belief that every child deserves a magical space to play. Today, each playmat is hand-designed with the same passion that started it all, turning imagination into a world kids can step right into.
